Star Wars: The Acolyte set photos bring the High Republic era to life

December 10, 2022 by Amie Cranswick

With cameras rolling on Lucasfilm’s latest small screen Star Wars offering, some spy photos have emerged from the set of Star Wars: The Acolyte, giving us our first look at the ‘High Republic’ era of the galaxy far, far away outside the realm of books and comics.

The series from creator Leslye Headland (Russian Doll) takes place around a century before Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, and has been described as a mystery-thriller set within the final days of the High Republic, with actress Dafne Keen (Logan) stating recently that: “It’s set 100 years before the prequel movies, and it’s kind of an explanation of how the Sith infiltrated the Jedi. It’s a Sith-led story, which has never been done before.”

Check out the set photos here, which include shots of Dean-Charles Chapman and Lee Jung-jae as Jedi Knights, a mystery character said in the description to be Dafne Keen, a female Zabrak, and what looks like a Wookiee Jedi…

“A former Padawan reunites with her Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes, but the forces they confront are more sinister than they ever anticipated.”

Amandla Stenberg (Bodies Bodies Bodies) leads the cast of The Acolyte, and will star alongside Lee Jung-Jae (Squid Game), Manny Jacinto (Top Gun: Maverick), Dafne Keen (His Dark Materials), Jodie Turner-Smith (Queen & Slim), Rebecca Henderson (Inventing Anna), Charlie Barnett (Russian Doll), Dean-Charles Chapman (Game of Thrones) and Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix).

Star Wars: The Acolyte is set to air on Disney+ in 2023.
