Timothée Chalamet confirms that Dune: Part Two has wrapped filming

December 13, 2022 by Amie Cranswick

It seems we’re one step closer to a return to Arrakis, with filming having reportedly wrapped on the second half of Denis Villeneuve’s acclaimed adaptation of Frank Herbert’s sci-fi masterpiece Dune.

This weekend, various social media posts have been doing the rounds showing Paul Atreides himself, Timothee Chalamet, attending the wrap party for Dune: Part Two. The follow-up to the Best Picture-nominated 2021 film began shooting back in July in Budapest, Hungary before moving to the deserts of Abu Dhabi last month.

Dune: Part Two will complete the story from Herbert’s first Dune novel, as Paul Atreides seeks revenge against House Harkonnen, leading the Fremen in a rebellion to liberate Arrakis, as well as overthrowing the galaxy’s Padishah Emperor Shaddam IV, who will be played by Christopher Walken. Other new additions to the cast alongside Walken include Florence Pugh, Lea Seydoux and Elvis star Austin Butler.

Villeneuve now enters the post-production stage on the hotly-anticipated sequel ahead of its release in November. Meanwhile cameras continue to roll on the HBO Max prequel spinoff Dune: The Sisterhood, which he also executive produces for Legendary Television.

“Dune: Part Two will explore the mythic journey of Paul Atreides as he unites with Chani and the Fremen while on a warpath of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he endeavors to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee.”

Timothee Chalamet reprises role of Paul Atreides, and is joined by fellow Dune returnees Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Charlotte Rampling and Stephen McKinley Henderson. Joining the saga are Christopher Walken (Pulp Fiction) as Emperor Shaddam IV, Florence Pugh (Black Widow) as Princess Irulan, Austin Butler (Elvis) as Feyd-Rautha, Léa Seydoux (Crimes of the Future) as Lady Margot, and Souheila Yacoub (A Brighter Tomorrow) as Shishakli.

Dune: Part Two will release on November 3rd 2023.
