James McAvoy to headline Blumhouse remake of Speak No Evil

April 17, 2023 by Matt Rodgers

James McAvoy is set to rekindle his half-billion dollar grossing relationship with Blumhouse Productions by headlining their remake of brutal Danish thriller Speak No Evil.

Deadline report that McAvoy, who starred in M. Night Shyamalan’s Split and Glass for the prolific production company, will star in the remake for Eden Lake and The Woman In Black director James Watkins, who will work from his own script.

Released to a slew of positive notices last year, including our own ★★★★ review that you can read here, Speak No Evil tells the story of a Danish family who visit a Dutch family they met on a holiday, but what was supposed to be an idyllic weekend slowly starts unravelling as the Danes try to stay polite in the face of increasing unpleasantness.

Watkins adaptation is based on the screenplay by Christian Tafdrup and Mads Tafdrup, who co-wrote and directed the original.
