Henry Cavill gives his stamp of approval to Sasha Calle’s Supergirl in The Flash

May 31, 2023 by EJ Moreno

Sasha Calle will make her DC debut as Supergirl in just a few weeks, starring in The Flash alongside Ezra Miller and Michael Keaton.

Taking on such an iconic role will not be easy, especially following the fan-favorite performance of Henry Cavill, who appeared in various DCEU entries in the last decade, including Man of Steel and Zack Snyder’s Justice League.

Lucky for her, Calle doesn’t need to worry about Cavill holding any hard feelings for the actress replacing him, as she says the former Clark Kent gave her a stamp of approval. Speaking to EW, the actress recalls meeting Cavill for the first time. “I gave him a big hug. You know, it’s Henry Cavill, man! Our Man of Steel,” says Calle. “He is kind and very proper, and it was a great experience.”

While Cavill will reportedly not be featured in the film, the new Supergirl says Cavill saw The Flash and loved what she did with the role. Calle tells the outlet, “I asked him, ‘Did I make you proud, cuz? Does Superman approve’ And he was like, ‘Absolutely. You did a phenomenal job.’ I think, to me, that meant the world because it’s Henry Cavill, Man of Steel.”

At the time of writing, we don’t have confirmation if Sasha Calle will return as Supergirl in the future, but fans will have to wait to see her take on the iconic character in the next few weeks.

Worlds collide in “The Flash” when Barry uses his superpowers to travel back in time in order to change the events of the past. But when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation, and there are no Super Heroes to turn to. That is, unless Barry can coax a very different Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian… albeit not the one he’s looking for. Ultimately, to save the world that he is in and return to the future that he knows, Barry’s only hope is to race for his life. But will making the ultimate sacrifice be enough to reset the universe?

The Flash is directed by Andy Muschietti (It) and stars Ezra Miller as Barry Allen/The Flash alongside Kiersey Clemons (Iris West), Ben Affleck (Batman), Michael Keaton (Batman), Sasha Calle (Supergirl), Michael Shannon (General Zod), Antje Traue (Faora-Ul), Kiersey Clemons (Iris West), Ron Livingston (Henry Allen), and Maribel Verdu (Nora Allen).

The Flash is set for release on June 16th, 2023.
