Once and Sing Street writer/director John Carney returns with another slice of musically-flecked feelgood filmmaking in the form of Apple Original Film, Flora and Son.
Flora and Son is another drama in which Carney harnesses the power of music to bring people together, this time it’s Eve Hewson’s Dublin woman with a guitar, who learns to play with the help of Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s washed-up LA musician in order to forge a connection with her troublesome son, played by Orén Kinlan.
Also starring Sing Street‘s Jack Reynor, Finding Joy‘s Amy Huberman, Redemption‘s Keith McErlean, and Outlander‘s Aislín McGuckin, you can check out the trailer below…
Single mom Flora (Eve Hewson) is at a loss about what to do with her rebellious teenage son, Max (Orén Kinlan). Encouraged by the police to find Max a hobby, Flora tries to occupy him with a beat-up acoustic guitar. With the help of a washed-up LA musician (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), Flora and Max discover the transformative power of music. From the musical mind of John Carney, “Flora and Son” explores the bond between a mother and son on a journey toward a new harmony.
Flora and Son premieres in select theaters on September 22 and is streaming on Apple TV+ from September 29.
