Jason Momoa and Jack Black celebrate Minecraft: The Movie wrapping production

The Minecraft will soon smash its way into cinemas, with the production wrapping this past week.

One of the actors behind the film, Jason Momoa, took to his social media to celebrate the conclusion of principal photography. Also seen celebrating with the Aquaman actor is co-star Jack Black, who plays protagonist Steve.

“MINECRAFT WE ARE WRAPPING All my aloha to my crew and cast,” Momoa wrote. “Unbelievable movie experience truly one of the greatest times of my life. Too many laughs. I love this country. AOTEAROA New Zealand you are magical. Mahalo for letting me film here.” Check out the post below…

The cast includes Jack Black, Jason Momoa Momoa, Kate McKinnon, Jemaine Clement, Emma Myers, Danielle Brooks, Sebastion Eugene Hansen, and Jennifer Coolidge.

Jared Hess will direct, with a screenplay written by Chris Bowman (Ninety-Five Senses) and Hubbel Palmer (Moving McAllister). The production designer is Grant Major, who worked on Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Plot details are still sparse, but we expect building and crafting to be a major part.

Minecraft: The Movie is set to hit theaters on April 4th, 2025.
