Renée Zellweger, Hugh Grant and Emma Thompson to return for Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy

April 10, 2024 by Matt Rodgers

Renée Zellweger has signed on to reprise her iconic Academy Award nominated role as Bridget Jones, and she’s bringing Hugh Grant and Emma Thompson back with her.

According to Deadline the fourth installment of Universal Pictures and Working Title’s franchise will be titled Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, and will receive a theatrical release internationally, but debut on Peacock in the U.S. on Valentine’s Day 2025.

Directed by Michael Morris (To Leslie), Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy will star Academy Award winner Zellweger (Judy), alongside Hugh Grant (Wonka), Emma Thompson (Last Christmas), and series newcomers Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years A Slave) and Leo Woodall (The White Lotus).

Based on Helen Fielding’s 2013 novel, Mad About the Boy picks up with Bridget in her early fifties, as she navigates the challenges of modern life while juggling the responsibilities of motherhood. The last Bridget Jones outing was 2016’s Bridget Jones’s Baby, which earned over $200M worldwide, that despite being released over a decade after 2004’s critically derided The Edge of Reason.
