Ricky Church reviews Transformers: Till All Are One #8…
This is it: the final stand for Cybertron! Will Starscream and Windblade’s gamble finally pay off or will all of Iacon be destroyed by the zombie titans?
The battle for Cybertron came to a head in Transformers: Till All Are One #8 and got a satisfying conclusion to the conflict while setting up the next crisis Starscream, Windblade and their allies will face. All in all, the issue closed out this arc of Till All Are One nicely.
Mairghread Scott’s script was well-written and fast paced, but still gave some time for the characters and readers to breath as some explanations were given regarding There was also a good balance of all the conflicts on each front, from Vigilem’s take down of the Titans to the fighting within evil Titan. Everyone in the cast got a good chance to do something, though Starscream and Elita-One were pushed to the sidelines a bit as Windblade’s mental battle with Vigilem took precedence.
Sara Pitre-Durocher’s artwork is very fluid and animated, giving the characters a lot of movement during the fight sequences. She’s also able to give the cast some very good facial expressions that display their emotions pretty well. One detail that looked very cool was the outline of Windblade within Vigilem’s body as she took control of the Titan during one of the fights, showing some nice detail as she appeared ghost-like.
Joana Lafuente’s colours popped in the issue, complimenting Pitre-Durocher’s artwork very well. There was a good combination of lights and darks that helped distinguish each transformer from each other. That fact is something very important for a book that follows either new characters to the Transformers mythos or lesser-known bots from the franchise.
Scott’s script combined with Pitre-Durocher and Lafuente’s artwork brought a good close to this arc of Till All Are One. Even as Scott set-up the next phase of the series, she didn’t let it overshadow the current conflict and brought it to a satisfying, yet possibly tragic, conclusion.
