Adam Hunter returns to fight again in Streets of Rage 4

December 10, 2019 by Villordsutch

Back in the 1990’s the Streets of Rage series, on the SEGA Mega Drive, was quite possibly one of the greatest collections of side-scrolling beat-em ups to grace the machine, especially (imho) Streets of Rage 2.  From the fantastic soundtrack to some frantic fighting, this was the perfect release.  Now Publisher and co-developer Dotemu together with co-developers Lizardcube and Guard Crush Games have announced that Adam Hunter will be returning to fight in the highly-anticipated, upcoming release of Streets of Rage 4.

Below you can checkout the trailer which showcases Adam’s dapper redesign – who is unlocked during the story mode – and his return to action, along with his daughter Cherry and returning allies Axel and Blaze.  You can also see his screen-clearing combos, his special moves and dash ability, each unique to him from the rest of the game’s roster.

Streets of Rage 4 is the first mainline series entry in more than 25 years, adding depth to its classic combat and new playable fighters in a revitalisation of the iconic beat ‘em up games. Featuring strikingly stylistic hand-drawn animation recalling the preceding trilogy’s gritty soul and original music from series composers Yūzō Koshiro (Streets of Rage 1, 2, & 3, Sonic the Hedgehog), Motohiro Kawashima (Streets of Rage 2 & 3, Shinobi II), and an all-star lineup of contributing guest musicians, Streets of Rage 4 pays tribute to the franchise’s legacy while leaving its own distinctive impact on the brawler genre.

Streets of Rage 4 is due for release on the PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.  For more information checkout their main website here.
