As Jake Gyllenhaal’s Road House 2 gears up for production, Amazon MGM Studios has announced Aldis Hodge (Cross) is the latest actor to join the film.
Released last year as a remake to the 1989 original, Road House featured Gyllenhaal as ex-UFC fighter Elwood Dalton who takes a job as a bouncer at a Florida roadhouse and becomes embroiled in its shady dealings with other gangs and crime bosses.
Hodge joins a cast that includes Guardians of the Galaxy star Dave Bautista and Leila George (Animal Kingdom). Plot details for the film are unknown, but Ilya Naishuller will take over from Doug Liman as the sequel’s director from a script by Will Beall.
Road House 2 will be produced by Charles Roven and Alex Gartner for Atlas Entertainment and Gyllenhaal and Josh McLaughlin for Nine Stories Productions.
Hodge recently led Amazon’s mystery series Cross as Alex Cross, a detective and forensic psychologist who is reluctantly pulled into a politically fueled murder investigation. The show is based on James Patterson’s novels and has been renewed for a second season that will premiere next year.
