Alex Rider heading to the small screen for Point Blanc

July 26, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Variety is reporting that Anthony Horowitz’s teenage superspy Alex Rider is heading to the small screen with Sony and Eleventh Hour Films teaming up for a TV adaptation of Point Blanc, the second book in Horowitz’s book series.

The eight-episode series has been scripted by BAFTA Award-winning screenwriter Guy Burt, and will “follow reluctant spy Rider as he infiltrates a controversial correctional academy for the wayward offspring of the ultra-rich. Acting as an an unofficial agent for MI6, he investigates the sinister purpose of the academy.”

“So many Alex Rider fans have been asking me when he would be returning to the screen – and I couldn’t be more excited that it’s finally happening,” said Horowtiz. “Guy Burt has perfectly captured the danger and excitement of the books, and I’m sure the series will have universal appeal.”

The Alex Rider book series was previously adapted as a feature with 2006’s Alex Rider: Stormbreaker, which starred Alex Pettyfer in the title role alongside Ewan McGregor, Alicia Silvestone and Mickey Rourke.
