Alex Winter teases a possible Bill & Ted 4: “We’re tinkering with a fourth movie idea”

January 18, 2024 by EJ Moreno

Bill & Ted Face The Music came and went, mostly due to the pandemic release, but most diehard fans got their fill with the Wyld Stallyns reunion. However, it seems there’s more in our future, as Alex Winter reveals he’s started some early development on Bill and Ted 4.

The actor made an appearance on The Sarah O’Connell Show revealing there’s been some rumblings of a fourth installment. Winter gives us insight into the creative process: “We’re tinkering with a fourth movie idea that all of us like, and the guys are going to write, so we’ll see. It takes us time to get these things going, and we never want to do them unless they’re great.”

“They [creators Ed Solomon and Chris Matheson and co-star Keanu Reeves] feel the same way, it has to be right. We love [the Bill & Ted movies] because they’re oddball, and they’re not typical mainstream films,” he adds. “They’ve never been cash-grab movies; nobody has gotten rich off the Bill and Ted series. We really do make them sincerely from a place of love and interest.”

Winter only lets us know a little but does hype the ideas brewing. He says, “There’s a really good idea that the writers came up with for a fourth that’s kind of obvious. I don’t want to give it away — I can’t give it away because I would be drawn and quartered — but it is a really good idea, an obvious idea. It will get written, and we’ll see if we can actually get it made.”

Alex Winter is currently promoting Destroy All Neighbors available on Shudder and in select cinemas.

“The stakes are higher than ever for the time-traveling exploits of William “Bill” S. Preston Esq. (Alex Winter) and Theodore “Ted” Logan (Keanu Reeves). The now middle-aged best friends set out on a new adventure to seek the song that will set their world right and bring harmony in the universe, with the help of their daughters (Samara Weaving and Brigette Lundy-Paine), a new batch of historical figures and a few music legends. The film also stars Kristen Schaal, Erinn Hayes, Jayma Mays, Holland Taylor, Kid Cudi, Anthony Carrigan, Jillian Bell, Beck Bennett, William Sadler, Hal Landon Jr., and Amy Stoch.”

Bill & Ted Face the Music sees Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves reprising their roles as Bill & Ted, while William Sadler (The Grim Reaper), Amy Stoch (Missy) and Hal Landon Jr. (Captain Logan) also return to the franchise. New additions to the cast include Samara Weaving (Ready or Not), Brigette Lundy-Paine (Atypical), Beck Bennett (Saturday Night Live), Jayma Mays (Glee), Erinn Hayes (Children’s Hospital), Jillian Bell (Rough Night), Kid Cudi (Need for Speed), Kirsten Schaal (30 Rock) and Holland Taylor (Legally Blonde).
