Amazon gives pilot order to The Tick reboot

March 11, 2016 by Amie Cranswick

Back in 2014 it was reported that a reboot of the cult comedy series The Tick was in the works, with creator Ben Edlund set to reunite with star Patrick Warburton, who played the title character in the short-lived live-action series in 2001.

Well, Amazon has now granted the project a pilot order, although Deadline is reporting that Warburton will not reprise his role due to his commitments to NBC’s new comedy series Crowded, and casting is now underway for his replacement.

According to Deadline, Wally Pfister (Transcendence) is in negotiations to direct the pilot, while Griffin Newman (Vinyl) and Valorie Curry (House of Lies) have been cast as Arthur Everest and Dot Everest.

The site reports that the pilot will see The Tick recovering from memory loss and reteaming with his old sidekick Arthur, who has “been labeled as a schizophrenic because of his statements that evil plans to rule the city, and no one believes him until he runs into Tick.”
