Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings star says the show is “continually mind-blowing”

September 22, 2020 by Liam Waddington

With Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings recently resuming production in New Zealand following the film and TV industries shutting down due to the ongoing global health crisis, one of the stars of the series has teased her experience on-set so far.

During an interview with NME, star Morfydd Clark, who is set to play young Galadriel in the series, offered vague details on the scale of the show as well as teasing the amount of attention to detail the crew is putting into the production.

“I feel like I’ve got my fix of the massive stuff by doing Lord of the Rings,” Clark said. “The amount of [people working] on this show is continually mind-blowing. One guy’s job consists just of seeing how dust reacts to footsteps and breath! That would never have even crossed my mind before. Other than something like Marvel, I don’t think things could get much bigger than this.”

Whilst the majority of story details are being kept under wraps, we do know Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings, which is been developed by JD Payne and Patrick McKay (Star Trek Beyond), with J.A. Bayona (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom) directing, will be a prequel to Tolkien’s novels and is set to take place during the Second Age of Middle-earth – a period glimpsed briefly in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring when we see the Last Alliance of Elves and Men battling the Dark Lord Sauron.

Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings series features a cast including Robert Aramayo (The King’s Man), Owain Arthur (A Confession), Nazanin Boniadi (Homeland), Tom Budge (The Wrong Girl), Morfydd Clark (His Dark Materials), Ismael Cruz Córdova (Berlin Station), Ema Horvath (Like.Share.Follow), Markella Kavenagh (Picnic at Hanging Rock), Joseph Mawle (Game of Thrones), Megan Richards (Wanderlust), Dylan Smith (I Am The Night), Charlie Vickers (Medici), Kaya Scodelario, Tyroe Muhafidin and Sophia Nomvete.
