Amber Heard discusses Mera’s hyrdrokinesis powers in Aquaman

July 17, 2018 by Samuel Brace

Amber Heard, who is portraying Mera in the upcoming movie Aquaman, has commented on her character’s hyrdrokinesis superpowers.

One of the most interesting elements regarding Aquaman is the fact that so much of the film will be set underwater, providing what will surely be a radically different visual style to the film compared to other DCEU movies.

Seeing how this will look on screen, as well as the various water-based superpowers of the characters, is a tantalising prospect and Amber Heard’s character Mera is going to be crucial to its effectiveness.

Speaking to JoBlo, the actress says that Mera is going to have some formidable powers and has discussed what some of those abilities will entail:

“So I control water. Mera’s power, other than just being a warrior princess in Atlantis, is that she also can control water, a power that comes in quite handy as you will see. Not only in this scene, but it plays throughout the mission, throughout their entire journey. She relies on hydrokinesis to kind of save the world and stuff.”

Despite Heard’s casual description of her powers at the end there, Mera will surely be quite the force to be reckoned with. Are you looking forward to seeing more of her powers on screen?

Aquaman is directed by James Wan (The Conjuring) and stars Jason Momoa as the titular hero, reprising his role from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League, along with Amber Heard as Mera, Patrick Wilson as Ocean Master, Willem Dafoe as Dr. Vulko, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus, Nicole Kidman as Atlanna, Temuera Morrison as Tom Curry, Ludi Lin as Murk, Michael Beach as Jesse Kane, Djimon Hounsou as the Fisherman King, Randall Park as Otis Dhanji as a young Arthur Curry and Graham McTavish in an as-yet-unrevealed role.
