AMC’s The Walking Dead spin-off series Cobalt to star Kim Dickens

December 23, 2014 by William Fanelli

Kim Dickens has officially been tapped to star as the female lead in the new AMC companion series to The Walking Dead, reports Deadline. She is probably most widely recognized from her run on HBO’s post Katrina series Treme but she has since broken out further thanks to David Fincher’s latest suspense thriller Gone Girl.

The Walking Dead companion series was created by Robert Kirkman, based upon the graphic novel of the same name (Kirkman & Dave Erickson), and is set to be directed by Adam Davidson. The series follows two co-workers, a divorced teacher Cliff Curtis and a guidance counselor (Dickens), who also happen to be in a relationship together. She has two children (Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam Carey) from a prior marriage as well as a dark past that threatens to haunt her present situation. Ths series, currently being called Cobalt, takes place during the same zombie apocalypse depicted in its parent series, although in an entirely different location.

Dickens’ other previous credits include tv series’ Sons Of Anarchy, Friday Night Lights and Deadwood, along with movies The Gift and House of Sand and Fog.
