Amy Adams to be terrorised by Javier Bardem in Cape Fear TV series

February 14, 2025 by Gary Collinson

Amy Adams has signed on to be terrorised by Javier Bardem’s Max Cady in Apple TV+’s upcoming small screen take on Cape Fear.

Nick Antosca (The Act, Brand New Cherry Flavor) is serving as writer, executive producer, and showrunner on the new adaptation of John D. MacDonald’s novel The Executioners, which served as the basis for both 1962’s Cape Fear starring Gregory Peck, Robert Mitchum and Polly Bergen, as well as the Martin Scorsese-directed 1991 remake with Nick Nolte, Robert De Niro and Jessica Lange.

Seemingly adhering to the source material, the synopsis for the 10-episode limited series reads: “A storm is coming for happily married attorneys Anna (Adams) and Tom Bowden when Max Cady (Bardem), a notorious killer from their past, gets out of prison.”

Amy Adams is fresh off last year’s Nightbitch [read our review here], while her last TV role, the HBO limited series Sharp Objects, saw her receiving both Emmy and Golden Globe Award nominations.
