Having been the subject of many a tabloid article over the past few weeks, Deadline is reporting that Ana de Armas and Tom Cruise are set to star together in Deeper, an underwater supernatural thriller from Cruise and his Edge of Tomorrow director Doug Liman.
Deeper has been circling Hollywood for almost a decade and is based upon a spec script by Max Landis (Chronicle), although Cruise’s Mission: Impossible director Christopher McQuarrie is believed to have been working on the script.
The film – previously described by Liman as a ““scary movie” – will see Cruise portraying an astronaut who encounters a terrifying force while on a deep dive into a never-before-explored trench. Cruise and de Armas are reportedly embarking on the necessary diving training required for the project, which is expected to be Cruise’s next film.
