Annabelle sequel in the works

October 18, 2015 by Gary Collinson

Originally published October 18, 2015. Updated April 14, 2018.

According to The Tracking Board, New Line Cinema has tapped screenwriter Gary Dauberman to pen the script for a sequel to Annabelle, last year’s spinoff to The Conjuring.

The site reports that Annabelle director John Leonetti is unlikely to return to direct the follow-up, although James Wan will once again produce.

Produced for just $6.5 million, Annabelle grossed $246 million around the globe, so it comes as little surprise that New Line is eyeing a second outing for the sinister doll.

In addition to Annabelle 2, New Line also has The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist set for release in June 2016, with Wan directing.
