Anson Mount cast as Black Bolt in Marvel’s Inhumans

February 28, 2017 by Ricky Church

ABC has made yet another casting announcement for the upcoming Marvel‘s Inhumans. Deadline is reporting Hell on Wheels‘ Anson Mount has been cast as Black Bolt, the royal king of the Inhumans. He is joined by Game of Thrones‘ Iwan Rhoen, who will be playing Black Bolt’s younger brother Maximus the Mad.

Marvel’s Inhumans will follow the adventures of the Royal Family that guards over a race of evolved and superpowered Inhumans as they protect their society. Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, each Inhuman has a unique power. Black Bolt’s power is having a voice so powerful it can level cities, leaving him to stay silent the majority of time.

“Anson loves the challenge of playing a character who will only communicate silently,” said Jeph Loeb, Head of Marvel Television. “His enthusiasm mixed with his imposing, almost regal persona made it easy to see why he is our Black Bolt.”

Scott Buck, Inhumans executive producer and showrunner, also praised Mount’s role as Black Bolt. “Black Bolt is a character whose deep complexity must be conveyed without uttering a single word, and I’m very excited to have Anson on board to bring him to life.”

Marvel’s Inhumans will premiere in September, with the first two episodes directed by Roel Reine and getting a two week IMAX release.
