Ant-Man and the Wasp’s Randall Park joins Aquaman in reshoots

April 12, 2018 by Ricky Church

With Aquaman being released at the end of the year, the film is currently undergoing some pick-ups and reshoots with one new addition. Randall Park (Fresh Off The Boat) has joined the solo superhero blockbuster and will play Dr. Stephen Shin in the latest DC adventure.

Director James Wan revealed the news himself over his Twitter page. Dr. Shin is a fairly new introduction to the Aquaman comics, being introduced during Geoff Johns’ New 52 run on the title. Dr. Shin is a marine biologist and a friend of Aquaman’s father. He helped the young Arthur Curry hone his abilities and discover where he came from. On the surface world, no one knows more about Atlantis and the people who call it home than Dr. Shin.

Funny enough, Park will also be seen in one of this year’s Marvel films, Ant-Man and the Wasp, making him one of the few actors who have appeared in both DC and Marvel films. In that film he will portray S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Jimmy Woo.

Arthur Curry learns that he is the heir to the underwater kingdom of Atlantis, and must step forward to lead his people and to be a hero to the world.

Aquaman is directed by James Wan (The Conjuring) and stars Jason Momoa as the titular hero, reprising his role from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League, along with Amber Heard as Mera, Patrick Wilson as Ocean Master, Willem Dafoe as Dr. Vulko, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus, Nicole Kidman as Atlanna, Temuera Morrison as Tom Curry, Ludi Lin as Murk, Michael Beach as Jesse Kane, Randall Park as Otis Dhanji as a young Arthur Curry and Graham McTavish in an as-yet-unrevealed role. It is set for release on December 21st 2018.
