Anthony Daniels has wrapped filming on Star Wars: Episode IX

January 29, 2019 by Gary Collinson

As we continue to wait for our first glimpse of Star Wars: Episode IX – with a TV spot at the Super Bowl said to be highly unlikely – Star Wars ever-present Anthony Daniels has taken to Twitter to announce that he has wrapped filming on J.J. Abrams’ closing chapter of the Disney Sequel Trilogy.

“Today was 3PO’s last on Episode IX,” states Daniels. “He’s sad – so am I. But we’re so proud to have worked with such a lovely, talented cast & crew lead by J.J. & Kathy. I’ll miss everyone but I’m glad to know that we’ve been making something exceptional together, to share with the waiting world.”

Based on his appearances in The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi, we can probably expect C-3PO’s role in Episode IX to be minor, although it will of course continue Daniels’ run as the only actor to have appeared in every Star Wars movie to date (although Threepio was absent from Solo: A Star Wars Story, Daniels did cameo as the Wookiee Tak).
