Anthony Mackie to produce and star in action sci-fi Outside the Wire

June 10, 2019 by Gary Collinson

After appearing in the fifth season of Black Mirror and the upcoming second season of Altered Carbon, Anthony Mackie is set to reunite with Netflix once again, with Deadline reporting that the Marvel star is set to lead the case of the sci-fi action film Outside the Wire.

The film takes place in the future and will see Mackie as “a drone pilot sent into a deadly militarized zone where he finds himself working for an android officer tasked to locate a doomsday device before it falls into the hands of insurgents.”

Filming on Outside the Wire is set to get underway in August, with Mikael Hafstrom (Escape Plan) directing from a script by Rob Yescombe and Rowan Athale (Way Down). In addition to starring, Mackie will also produce the film alongside Brian Kavanaugh-Jones (Sinister), Ben Pugh (Ironbark), Erica Steinberg (Death Proof) and Jason Spire (Operation Finale).

Mackie is gearing up to reprise his MCU role as Sam Wilson alongside Sebastian Stan in the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, while his upcoming feature credits include The Woman in the Window, The Banker, Synchronic, and a remake of Point Blank.
