Anya Taylor-Joy reuniting with director Robert Eggers for Nosferatu remake

August 25, 2021 by Liam Waddington

Back in 2017, it was announced that The Witch and The Lighthouse director Robert Eggers was set to helm a remake of F.W. Murnau’s 1922 silent horror classic Nosferatu, A Symphony of Horror.

Now, in an interview with The Los Angeles Times, Anya Taylor-Joy (The Queen’s Gambit) has confirmed that she is still set to reunite with Eggers for the remake after previously being announced to be in talks for the project four years ago.

“All my friends are always like, ‘What are you doing?!? Take … a … break,’” Taylor-Joy said. “But the roles are too good. I wouldn’t be able to deal with it if I didn’t say yes. I wouldn’t cope. I’d rather just go for it and do my best.”

An unofficial adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Nosferatu follows the vampire Count Orlok as he tries to purchase a house in Germany, and finds himself enamoured with the real-estate agent’s wife. There has been no confirmation on who Taylor-Joy will be playing or who else is set to join the cast.

Robert Eggers’ latest feature film, The Northman, is currently scheduled to debut on April 8th 2022 and stars Alexander Skarsgård as a Viking prince in the 10th century who seeks revenge for his father’s murder. The cast also includes Willem Dafoe, Nicole Kidman, Anya Taylor-Joy, Ethan Hawke, and Björk.
