We’re less than two months out from the release of the next chapter of the DC Extended Universe, and according to early estimates from tracking site Box Office, long range tracking for Aquaman is pointing to a domestic opening weekend in the region of $40 million to $60 million.
Even at the top end of that range, it would be the lowest debut for a DCEU movie (currently Justice League on $93.8 million), although that is to be expected really given that it is set to face fierce competition in a rather stacked December, opening alongside Bumblebee and two days after Disney’s Mary Poppins Returns.
If the numbers prove accurate, then Warner Bros. and DC Films will be hoping that the $160 million-budgeted Aquaman displays some steady sea legs through the holiday season and also proves to be a solid hit in the international markets.
