Arnold Schwarzenegger joins Michael Fassbender in Kung Fury

February 16, 2018 by Ricky Church

After Michael Fassbender’s surprising involvement with the Kung Fury feature film that is set to shoot this summer, we have news of another star set to appear in the film. The Hollywood Reporter states that action icon Arnold Schwarzenegger will appear in the film as the American president.

The movie will be helmed by the original’s director and lead star, David Sandberg. The sequel is set in 1985 Miami, which is kept safe under the watchful eye of Kung Fury and his Thundercops, the ultimate police force assembled from across history to defeat the villainous Kung Fuhrer, Adolf Hitler. After the tragic death of a Thundercop sees the group disband, a mysterious villain emerges from the shadows to aid in the Fuhrer’s quest to attain the ultimate weapon. Kung Fury must travel through space and time to save his friends, defend the prestigious Miami Kung Fu Academy and defeat evil once and for all.

The film is a sequel to the 2015 viral hit and cult short film Kung Fury, which was made through a very successful Kickstarter campaign that raised more than $600,000 for its production. Baywatch actor David Hasseloff will also return to Kung Fury after having a role in the original as well as singing its theme song.

David Katzenberg, Seth Grahame-Smith and Aaron Schmidt will produce the film for KatzSmith Productions, coming off their very successful adaptation of Stephen King’s It last fall.
