Avengers: Age of Ultron nabs $27.6 million from US midnight screenings

May 1, 2015 by Scott J. Davis

Today, after a week of waiting patiently for the release, Avengers: Age of Ultron arrives in the USA, and the film is already breaking records from its Thursday midnight previews.

From midnight shows, Ultron ended with an estimated $27.6 million, almost $10 million more than the $18.7 million midnight opening for The Avengers on the same weekend in 2012. In addition, the film smashed through $3 million in IMAX to set a new Thursday previews record, beating the $2.3 million set by The Dark Knight Rises in 2012.
