Avengers: Infinity War trailer, Justice League behind Man of Steel in box office tracking, Denis Villeneuve directing Star Wars and more – Daily News Roundup

November 30, 2017 by Luke Owen

GET THAT MAN A SHIELD

Well, it’s finally here. With a year-long wait, Marvel Studios have released the first teaser trailer for 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War – which you can watch here.

TO KILL OR NOT TO KILL

The Russo Brothers have been looking ahead to Avengers 4 in some interviews however, and have spoken with Vanity Fair about who might not survive post the fourth outing for Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. “We know who we’re allowed to kill, and that’s about it,” said Russo when asked whether he and his brother Joe are involved in shaping the franchise post-Infinity War. “I don’t even think Marvel had any ideas about where they would go after [Avengers 3 and 4]. It’s not an end for all of these characters; it’s an end for some of these characters. So some of these characters will go on. So it’s more complicated, that’s why it’s not a clean ending.” Read more here.

FALLING BEHIND MAN OF STEEL

It’s more bad news for DC’s Justice League as the tracking for the movie places it far behind Man of Steel. Although Justice League opened to $93 million domestically, it was behind Man of Steel‘s $128 million, and the team-up is still trailing the current lowest-grossing movie in the DCEU. Justice League has at this point accumulated $174 million in North America after 11 days and Man of Steel, at the same time of release, had collected $214 million. ZACK SNYDER’S CUT UPDATE

Many DC fans have been asking for Warner Bros. to release the Zack Snyder version of Justice League before all of the studio interference and Joss Whedon’s reshoots, and a new report suggests Snyder’s cut exists in some form. A user on Reddit – so take it with a pinch of salt – claims Warner Bros. still have the cut but it doesn’t have VFX or music. Read more here.

VILLENEUVE WANT STAR WARS

Despite Lucasfilm firing several of its directors over the last couple of years, Blade Runner 2049 director Dennis Villeneuve has expressed an interest in helming a Star Wars movie. “I would be intrigued,” he told Happy Sad Confused. “I don’t know, it’s very difficult. What is dangerous with Star Wars right now is it’s become its own vocabulary. I would love to see them, I think Rogue One was a very interesting attempt to get out of the mold.” Read more here.

DISNEY AND FOX REOPEN TALKS

A story from earlier this month has resurfaced as it looks like talks about Disney taking on portions of 21st Century Fox – which would include 20th Century Fox – have reopened. According to Deadline, it is expected that the Mouse House is “progressing speedily” towards the acquisition, although any news on the talks will likely only be forthcoming once the ink has dried and the deal is done.
