Batman: The Killing Joke given go ahead for R rating by DC Comics

October 10, 2015 by Tom Beasley

Producer James Tucker (Justice League: War) has been given the green light by DC Comics and Warner Bros. to make an R-rated film version of Batman: The Killing Joke.

SEE ALSO: Mark Hamill will voice The Joker for Batman: The Killing Joke film

Stitch Kingdom, reporting from New York Comic-Con, said that Tucker had stated he had DC and Warner’s approval to make the film with an R rating.

However, Tucker took to Twitter later in the day to clarify that the actual rating for Batman: The Killing Joke would not be decided until much later in the production process.

Never fails that I get misquoted at a con! I’m not directing “Killing Joke” and what rating it gets won’t be decided for a long time.

Mark Hamill (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) looks set to return to voice the Joker, after putting his stamp on the role in previous animated films.
