Deadline is reporting that Ben Foster (Hell or High Water) has signed on to lead the cast of Medieval, an action-drama from director Petr Jakl (Ghoul) about the Czech warlord and national hero Jan Zizka.
The film will tell the story of Zizka, a revered military tactician who defeated armies of the Teutonic Order and the Holy Roman Empire, as well as focussing on his relationship with a local heiress and face-off against a rival king.
“I loved this script and loved Petr’s first two movies,” said producer Cassian Elwes (Mudbound). “I think he‘s going to do a fantastic job on this film. And I couldn‘t be more excited to work with Ben Foster again, after my experience with him on Ain‘t Them Bodies Saints. He‘s one of the greatest young actors working right now.”
Foster will next be seen starring opposite Elle Fanning in Melanie Laurent’s Galveston. Watch the trailer here.
