Blumhouse developing new My Bloody Valentine movie

May 25, 2024 by EJ Moreno

Grab your pickaxe and head to the mines as we’re back with another My Bloody Valentine.

Bloody Disgusting is reporting a new My Bloody Valentine movie, which has yet to be confirmed as a remake or sequel. It’s been 15 years since the franchise last saw an entry, with the Hollywood remake My Bloody Valentine 3D in 2009. Before that, the Canadian slasher classic My Bloody Valentine dropped in 1981.

George Mihalka directed the original, and the plot followed: “A decades-old folk tale surrounding a deranged murderer killing those who celebrate Valentine’s Day turns out to be true to legend when a group defies the killer’s order and people start turning up dead.”

My Bloody Valentine was an overlooked slasher gem, but it made enough impression on genre fans to keep it alive as a horror cult classic. The legacy was strong enough to spawn Lionsgate’s My Bloody Valentine 3D remake, which gathered $100 million at the worldwide box office.
