Blumhouse’s The Invisible Man adds Storm Reid

May 13, 2019 by Gary Collinson

A Wrinkle in Time actress Storm Reid has signed on to star alongside Elisabeth Moss (The Handmaid’s Tale) in director Leigh Whannell’s (Upgrade) upcoming Universal Monsters movie The Invisible Man.

The Blumhouse-produced movie is separate from the previously planned Dark Universe entry which was to be headlined by Johnny Depp, and is said to be “rooted in horror, with no restrictions on budget, tone or rating.”

According to Deadline, the film will follow Moss’ character Cecilia, “who receives the news of her abusive ex-boyfriend’s suicide. She begins to re-build her life for the better, but her sense of reality is put into question when she begins to suspect her deceased lover is not actually dead.”

Reid will portray Sydney, whose character description reads: “With her mother gone, she’s picked up the maternal slack and is capable and mature for her age. She’s an outgoing lover of fashion who aspires to see the world, and she initially likes having Cecilia around as a role model, but grows mistrustful of her when strange things begin to happen around the house.”

Filming on The Invisible Man is slated to get underway this July in Australia.
