Bruce Lee-inspired Warrior renewed for second season by Cinemax

April 28, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Cinemax has handed out an early renewal to its period crime drama Warrior, with the show set to return for a second season next year.

Based on the writings of martial arts icon Bruce Lee and executive produced by Jonathan Tropper (Banshee) and Justin Lin (Fast & Furious), Warrior takes place during the brutal Tong Wars of San Francisco’s Chinatown in the second half of the 19th century and follows Ah Sahm, a martial arts prodigy who immigrates from China to San Francisco under mysterious circumstances and becomes a hatchet man for one of Chinatown’s most powerful gangs.

Warrior’s ten-episode first season premiered on Cinemax earlier this month, and features a cast that includes Andrew Koji, Olivia Cheng, Jason Tobin, Dianne Doan, Joanna Vanderham, Hoon Lee, Tom Weston-Jones, Kieran Bew, Dean S. Jagger, Christian McKay, Perry Yung, Joe Taslim, Langley Kirkwood, and Rich Ting.
