Bryan Singer would like to see a Mystique solo movie, with or without Jennifer Lawrence

June 3, 2016 by Amie Cranswick

During an appearance on the Empire Film Podcast, X-Men: Apocalypse director Bryan Singer has suggested that he feels the character of Mystique is ready for her own solo movie, even if Jennifer Lawrence opts against renewing her contract with 20th Century Fox.

“I think she’s right for [a standalone film], whether it’s Jennifer or not,” said Singer (via Screen Rant). “She has this different view of the world: Xavier can get into Cerebro and look at the world but he’d rather just teach classes and see the beauty of mutants and humans co-existing in his mansion in Westchester. Along comes Raven with a reality check on the state of the world. It opens up a lot of avenues.”

As with her First Class co-stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Nicholas Hoult, Lawrence’s three-film X-Men deal expired with X-Men: Apocalypse, although the Oscar-winner has suggested recently that she’s “dying to come back” for more movies, having previously stated that Apocalypse would be her last.
