Captain Planet returns this April with new comic series from Dynamite Entertainment

January 26, 2025 by Gary Collinson

The cult 90s environmental hero Captain Planet and his Planeteers are set to make their return in comic book form this April as Dynamite Entertainment launches an all-new Captain Planet series.

Written by David Pepose (Space Ghost) with art from Eman Casallos (Vampirella), the series is described as an “energized yet faithful modernization of the franchise”, which launched back in 1990 with the Saturday morning cartoon series Captain Planet and the Planeteers from Turner Program Services and DIC Enterprises.

Check out the cover artwork to Dynamite’s Captain Planet #1 here…

Five ordinary young people from around the world must become humanity’s last hope after being chosen to wield elemental rings of Gaia, the High Priestess of Earth. Each Planeteer suddenly finds themselves equipped with abilities aligned with one of the world’s elemental forces: Earth, Fire, Wind, Water, and Heart. And in the most dire circumstances, the five can combine these powers together to summon the globe’s greatest champion — Captain Planet!

Captain Planet #1 will go on sale on April 23rd 2025.
