CBS renews Star Trek: Discovery for a second season

CBS has announced that is has renewed its new Star Trek series Star Trek: Discovery for a second season, which will once again air on CBS All Access in the United States and on Netflix internationally.

Star Trek: Discovery follows the voyages of Starfleet on their missions to discover new worlds and new life forms, and one Starfleet officer who must learn that to truly understand all things alien, you must first understand yourself. The cast includes Sonequa Martin-Green, Doug Jones, Jason Isaacs, Anthony Rapp, Michelle Yeoh, Shazad Latif, Mary Wiseman, Mary Chieffo and James Frain.

Discovery’s renewal probably won’t come as much of a surprise, given that producer Alex Kurtzman has previously revealed that the producers intend to explore the aftermath of the Klingon War, as well as suggesting that we may have to wait until 2019 for a second season.
