Chandler Riggs, the actor behind Carl in The Walking Dead, says that his exit from the show “sucked” but that he is “happy” with how it turned out.
There have been many changes on The Walking Dead in recent times, including that of the death of Carl Grimes. Many fans were shocked by his exit at the time and the actor himself, Chandler Riggs, was among them.
With some time and space now separating his 2018 exit, the actor, while still being sad about not being on the show anymore, says that he is happy without it turned out. Speaking at San Jose Fan Fest (via ComicBook.com), the actor said:
“It wasn’t just Carl dying, it was also me leaving the show and kind of moving on to other things.
“So in many ways, it was pretty symbolic just for the cast and crew, just for me to be leaving the show in the first place, it was a pretty big deal for all of us. And yeah, it sucked, and it was many long days, but I’m really happy with how it turned out and I’m really happy with my performances and I’m happy with how I left the show.
“Over the last year I’ve just spent a ton of time refining my craft and my acting, and I’m so excited to go on and do more projects where I can really showcase what I can do.”

The second half of The Walking Dead season nine finds our groups of survivors, both old and new, continuing to deal with the impact of events that took place during the six years that have passed. What may appear to be normal in this post-apocalyptic world could actually be more disturbing and terrifying than when the apocalypse first broke out. All that is certain is the stakes are high and numerous.
