Christoph Waltz boards Only Murders in the Building season 5

March 22, 2025 by Ricky Church

The next season of Only Murders in the Building has gained a big name for the new group of suspects. Variety has reported Christoph Waltz is the latest to join Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez in the mystery comedy series.

Waltz joins fellow newcomer Keegan-Michael Key for the upcoming season, which is currently in production. There is no other word on casting as of yet, including if Téa Leoni will star in the season after her cameo in the fourth season finale, but with production ongoing it shouldn’t be long until we get more information on who is joining the main trio in the next murder case.

Waltz is most known for his roles in Quentin Tarintino’s Inglorious Basterds and Django Unchained, both of which he won Academy Awards for. His most recent roles have been the TV series The Consultant and Most Dangerous Game, Daniel Craig’s final James Bond film No Time to Die and Old Guy. He’ll be seen next Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein opposite Oscar Isaac.

The fourth season of Only Murders in the Building ended with the discovery of Lester the doorman’s body found in the Arconia’s courtyard fountain. Lester has been a recurring character since the beginning of the show and has often helped the trio in their cases. He was also very well liked by everyone in the building, making his murder that much more shocking.

“In season four of “Only Murders in the Building”, our amateur podcasting trio wrestles with the shocking events at the end of season three surrounding Charles’ stunt double & friend Sazz Pataki. Questioning whether she or Charles was the intended victim, their investigation leads them all the way to Los Angeles where a Hollywood studio is readying a film about the Only Murders podcast. As Charles, Oliver & Mabel race back to New York, they embark on an even more epic journey — traversing their building’s courtyard to delve into the twisted lives of the Arconia’s West Tower residents.”
