August 13, 2023 by EJ Moreno

Christopher Nolan is known as a cinema lover, often labeled pretentious by his critics. But the filmmaker can appreciate all times of times as he just declared his love for Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby.

A few weeks back on the promotional tour for Oppenheimer, Nolan stopped by the Rich Eisen Show and gave us a clip that has now gone viral. In the interview, the filmmaker provides a surprising answer when asked what his ‘remote drop movie’ would be.

Nolan tells the host, “If there’s an old movie playing, I mean, anything by Kubrick, it’s a remote drop. And one of the great comedies too, I mean Talladega Nights, I’m never gonna be able to switch that up.”

Eisen responds, shocked, “Really? The Ballad of Ricky Bobby is a Christopher Nolan remote drop; is that what you’re saying?”.

Nolan then quoted one of its famous lines: “If you ain’t first, you’re last.”
