Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk receives PG-13 rating for “intense war experience”

March 15, 2017 by Samuel Brace

Christopher Nolan’s upcoming WWII drama Dunkirk has received a PG-13 rating in the US.

Every new Christopher Nolan film is an event; the critically praised English director with a loyal fan base has been bringing his unique brand of ambitious blockbusters to cinemas for quite some time now.

With 2014’s Interstellar wowing many and baffling plenty more, fans are eager to see how he handles the more grounded affair of a World War II drama.

Dunkirk tells the story of the Dunkirk evacuation where allied soldiers were trapped on a beach, surrounded by Nazi soldiers.

The stakes are certainly there for Nolan to work his magic, and along with an all star cast that includes Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, Kenneth Branagh, and Mark Rylance, Dunkirk has seemingly all the ingredients to be another hit for the director.

And now we know the age rating for the epic war thriller, with The Film Stage tweeting that the movie has received Nolan’s traditional PG-13 rating for “intense war experience and some language”.

So no surprises there, and fans won’t have to wait much longer to see just what Nolan has in store this time around.

Dunkirk is set for release on July 21st 2017 and features a cast that includes Nolan regulars Tom Hardy and Cillian Murphy alongside Mark Rylance, Kenneth Branagh, Harry Styles, Aneurin Barnard, Jack Lowden, James D’Arcy, Barry Keoghan, Tom Glynn-Carney and newcomer Fionn Whitehead.
