Christopher Nolan’s upcoming adaptation of the Greek epic The Odyssey has undergone a slight shuffle in its cast as Shōgun’s Cosmo Jarvis had to drop out of production. Now per Deadline the film has recast Jarvis’ role with Logan Marshall-Green (Spider-Man: Homecoming, Carry-On).
Jarvis was forced to drop out due a scheduling conflict with another production, likely the biopic Young Stalin where he is set to portray Joseph Stalin in the years leading up to becoming Russia’s dictator. His role in The Odyssey was being kept under wraps so we do not know which Greek character Marshall-Green will be playing.
The Odyssey follows Odysseus, the King of Ithica, in the years following the Trojan War as he begins a long voyage home. Over the course of a decade Odysseus is met with one setback after another, meeting various gods, creatures and monsters along the way. Matt Damon leading the large ensemble cast as Odyseeus.
The Odyssey will have the distinction of becoming the first film to be fully filmed in IMAX with brand new IMAX cameras designed specifically for Nolan’s latest production.
Christopher Nolan’s next film, The Odyssey, is a mythic action epic shot across the world using brand new Imax film technology. The film brings Homer’s foundational saga to Imax film screens for the first time and opens in theaters everywhere on July 17, 2026.
