Corey Stoll and Cary Elwes join Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon

April 9, 2022 by EJ Moreno

Rebel Moon, the upcoming space epic from Zack Snyder, is shaping up to be a star-studded event. The filmmaker is just entering production and has just signed on a handful of actors, including two very well-known faces.

The Hollywood Reporter has broken the story that Corey Stoll and Cary Elwes will join the upcoming Netflix film along with Dutch actor Michiel Huisman (Game of Thrones) and Mexican talent Alfonso Herrera (Ozark). While the roles for the other actors have yet to be confirmed, THR does report Elwes will play the king of the galactic empire.

Cary Elwes is best known for his work in The Princess Bride and Saw but has stolen scenes in Stranger Things and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Stoll was last seen in Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story and also top-lines Billions for Showtime.

Rebel Moon is “set in a peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy that finds itself threatened by the armies of the tyrannical Regent Balisarius. They dispatch a young woman with a mysterious past to seek out warriors from neighboring planets to help them take a stand the Tyrant.”

Sofia Boutella (Star Trek Beyond) leads the ensemble cast of Rebel Moon, including Elwes, Stoll, Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy), Ray Fisher (Zack Snyder’s Justice League), Djimon Hounsou (A Quiet Place Part II), Bae Doona (The Silent Sea), Jena Malone (Goliath), Staz Nair (Supergirl), E. Duffy (Girlfriends), Charlotte Maggi (MaveriX) and Sky Yang (Holding).

Snyder has penned the script for Rebel Moon alongside longtime collaborators Shay Hatten and Kurt Johnstad, with who he wrote Army of the Dead and 300, respectively. Synder will also produce the film with his producing partner and wife, Deborah Snyder, and Wesley Coller via the trio’s The Stone Quarry production banner. Eric Newman of Grand Electric is also producing. Production is scheduled to begin in April and last until November.
