Courtney B. Vance joins Tom Cruise in The Mummy reboot

Fresh from his role as Johnnie Cochran in FX’s TV series American Crime Story: The People v O.J. Simpson, Deadline is reporting that Courtney B. Vance has signed on to appear in Universal’s reboot of The Mummy.

Vance will join a cast that includes Tom Cruise (Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation), Annabelle Wallis (Annabelle), Jake Johnson (New Girl) and Sofia Boutella (Kingsman: The Secret Service) in the cast of the film, which is being directed by Alex Kurtzman and is intended to kickstart a new shared Universal Monster universe.

Little is known about the plot for The Mummy, but it will be set in present day and it is thought that Cruise is playing a special forces soldier who will go up against Boutella’s ancient monster.

The Mummy is set for release on June 9th, 2017.
