Crazy Rich Asians’ Constance Wu to star in rom-com for Screen Gems

December 13, 2018 by Gary Collinson

With production on the sequels to Crazy Rich Asians not expected to begin until 2020, THR is reporting that Constance Wu is now in talks to star in a new romantic comedy for Sony’s Screen Gems.

The as-yet-untitled film will mark the feature directorial debut of GLOW actress Kimmy Gatewood, who is helming from a script by Savion Einstein (The Longest Birthday), and will see Wu portraying “a charmingly chaotic woman who has to get her life together when she becomes pregnant with two babies from two different men.”

Wu first rose to prominence in the ABC comedy series Fresh Off the Boat before her starring turn in Crazy Rich Asians, which grossed almost $240 million worldwide. The actress is expected to return for the two sequels, China Rich Girlfriend and Rich People Problems, which will reportedly be shot back to back in 2020.
