Creed III begins development with King Richard writer

February 26, 2020 by Ricky Church

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Creed III has begun development by hiring screenwriter Zach Baylin (King Richard) to pen the script.

Spinning off from the Rocky franchise, Creed followed Adonis Creed, the son of Rocky’s competition and friend Apollo Creed, as he trains to become the next heavyweight champion in boxing. Creed II saw Adonis face the past of his late father as he was challenged to a fight by Viktor Drago, the son of Ivan Drago and the man who killed Apollo in the ring.

Plot details for Creed III are unknown at this point, and MGM is currently said to be searching for a director to follow Ryan Coogler and Steven Caple JR. Creed star Michael B. Jordan will appear next in David O. Russell’s upcoming film alongside Christian Bale and Margot Robbie.

Baylin’s King Richard stars Will Smith as Richard Williams, the father of tennis champions Serena and Vanessa Williams, in a biopic on Williams’ life.
