Cyberpunk comic Tokyo Ghost is getting a movie adaptation from director Cary Fukunaga

March 28, 2021 by Gary Collinson

While he awaits the release of No Time To Die, filmmaker Cary Fukunaga has set his next feature film project with THR reporting that he’s set to adapt Image Comics’ cyberpunk series Tokyo Ghost for Legendary Pictures.

Created by Rick Remender (Deadly Class) and Sean Gordon Murphy (Chroronauts), Tokyo Ghost takes place in a 2089 where humanity escapes reality through technology and follows “peacekeepers Debbie Decay and Led Dent, who are working in the Isles of Los Angeles and are given a job that will take them to the last tech-free country on Earth: the garden nation of Tokyo.”

Remender is set to write the script for Tokyo Ghost, while Fukunaga will direct and produce through his Parliament of Owls production company.

Fukunaga is currently working on Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg’s latest World War II miniseries Masters of the Air, where he directs the first three episodes. His most recent film, the long-delayed Bond outing No Time To Die, is currently set for release in October.
