Daisy Ridley suggests that Star Wars: Episode IX will mark the end of her journey as Rey

November 30, 2017 by Matt Rodgers

With Rian Johnson’s The Last Jedi only two weeks away, we’re in the final stretch for the Rancor sized marketing push, and that brings with it the news that Daisy Ridley has indicated that this current trilogy will bring to an end her involvement as Rey…….for now.

During a mammoth – or should that be bantha-sized – Rolling Stone article on the upcoming film, the Murder on the Orient Express actor said “I am really, really excited to do the third thing and round it out, because ultimately, what I was signing on to was three films. So in my head, it’s three films. I think it will feel like the right time to round it out.”

However, Ridley did leave the door open for a Harrison Ford/Carrie Fisher/Mark Hamill style return to the saga at some point far far away.

“Who knows? I honestly feel like the world may end in the next 30 years, so, if in 30 years we are not living underground in a series of interconnected cells … then sure. Maybe. But again, it’s like, who knows. Because the thing I thought was so amazing, was people really wanted it. And it was done by people who really love it.”

Star Wars is a cyclical beast that has a habit of repeating itself, so who knows, in thirty years time we could find a new breed of Jedi heading to Ahch-To to be trained by a conflicted Rey? What do you think? Would you like the further adventures of Rey, or are you happy to cut the chord on the main saga and wait to see what Rian Johnson can do with his new series of films?
