Dakota Johnson and Tracee Ellis Ross to headline comedy Covers

May 22, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Deadline is reporting that Dakota Johnson (Fifty Shades of Grey) and Tracee Ellis Ross (Black-ish) have signed on for lead roles in the upcoming comedy Covers from Focus Features and Working Title Films.

Covers is being directed by Nisha Ganatra (Late Night), and while specific plot and character details are being kept under wraps, it has been announced that the movie is “set among the talent, fame and fast-paced world of Hollywood’s music scene.”

Johnson is coming off last year’s Fifty Shades Freed, Suspiria and Bad Times at the El Royale, and has the psychological horror Wounds and adventure film The Peanut Butter Falcon incoming this year.

Ross meanwhile currently stars in ABC’s Black-ish as Dr. Rainbow ‘Bow’ Johnson, a role which saw her honoured with the Golden Globe for Best Actress back in 2016.
