Damien Chazelle-penned mystery-thriller The Claim optioned

March 14, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Oscar-winning director Damien Chazelle’s early script The Claim – which made the 2010 Black List – has been optioned by Scott Clayton’s Oceanside Media, which plans to commence production on the mystery thriller later this year for release in 2018.

“I am excited to be partnering with Route One and Motion Picture Capital to produce this amazing project from Damien Chazelle,” Clayton said. “He has written a mesmerizing and bone-chilling thriller confirming his talent as a truly versatile screenwriter. We look forward to bringing this haunting film to audiences around the world.”

Variety reports that The Claim centres “on a single father with a criminal background who must uncover the whereabouts of his kidnapped daughter while fighting the mysterious claims of another couple who insist that the child is theirs.”

Whiplash and La La Land helmer Chazelle is currently prepping his next directorial effort First Man, which stars Ryan Gosling as astronaut Neil Armstrong and is set for release in October 2018.
