A day after nabbing Kenneth Branagh and Lily Gladstone yesterday, Michael B. Jordan’s remake of the heist drama The Thomas Crown Affair has cast The Walking Dead and MCU star Danai Gurira, as per The Hollywood Reporter.
The Thomas Crown Affair follows “a wealthy, thrill-seeking man who orchestrates a high-stakes robbery simply for the challenge, only to find himself entangled in a complex cat-and-mouse game with a brilliant investigator.” The script has been written by Drew Pierce based on an earlier draft by Wes Tooke and Justin Britt-Gibson.
The film will see Jordan, who will also direct, star as Thomas Crown opposite Taylor Russell (Bones and All) as the private investigator in their complicated and forbidden romance. Branagh is said to have gained the villain role and Gurira’s will play Thomas Crown’s confidant while details on Gladstone are being kept under wraps.
The Thomas Crown Affair is being produced by Jordan and Elizabeth Raposo for Outlier Society with Charles Roven for Atlas Entertainment. Alan Trustman, the screenwriter for the 1968 original Thomas Crown, will executive produce. Production will take place in Europe for a March 5th, 2027 release date.
